Chiang Mai is a little better at nightas it is at a higher elevation.

for relax places i think that is north , around chang mai for the climate, little cold in winter, and after hua hin prachuap khiri khan and chumporn that is not full of tourists, stay thai way of life and temperate whether because between the sea and mountains of burma(15km)and life is very cheap there

Stay away the tourist spots and its much cheaper; you also expreience the thai way of life.
