Getting your Hair Cut in Thailand

thetefldon

I am not a superstitious person but I have to admit the longer I live in Thailand the more I seem to get caught up in Thai superstitions.

Now you may not know this but Thai people consider it bad luck to get their hair cut on a Wednesday. Now I have struggled to find out why this is the case but I did find out that:

You can get your hair cut on any other day of the week except perhaps Saturday. Indeed a visit to the hair dresser on a Sunday is said to bring you long life, while a Monday trim is good for health and happiness and Tuesday promises power.

Thursday and Friday also offer good fortune with spiritual protection assured on the former day while in the latter case you will be blessed with wealth.

Saturday however is also apparently a bit dodgy since you should never buy anything new on a Saturday so whilst a trim might be OK a new style might not be a good idea.

But why is it unlucky to get your haircut on Wednesday in Thailand?

Well I actually still don't know, so if you do,  please put me out of my misery :)

By the way if you do want a haircut in Thailand this is the sign you should look out for.

Wednesday is the unlucky day to cut hair, nails and Beard i be told..

Normal around here my barber shop only have 1 guy at work that day, but many time it is close....

Every Thai i ask say, Bad luck, Bad luck on Wednesday....

Nice one! If she is Thai perhaps you should get her into superstitions.  Save on the wallet :)

She is Thai, but she is not that superstitions..
Beside buy the lotto number she dream about, but that 100-110 baht every 14 days is okay for me...

And going give food and money to monk on her and mine B-Day..

So i´m fine by that, think we all have "small" thing we like to do, and no harm done...
