Out of season, or folks move, or ???

I had intended to arrive in Hua Hin in Feb.  Life/family interfered.  Now, after repeated issues I am looking at possibly late Sept./Oct.  (Need to change the late June flight res. soon.)

It catches my attention that there has been a significant drop in postings over the past month or two.

Is that because it is out of season?

Have folks moved back "home" out of concern with the weird status of the world?

Some explanation that may not be occurring to me?

I'm guessing...since it's the Low tourist season right now, this has an effect on people asking or posting. I'm willing to bet it picks up a month or two before the High season, you'll see more people asking questions. There are still a few a few European tourist walking around here in CNX, but the Gulf situation is cutting the amount of people who usually fly via the Gulf route in half.

I'm curious if the number of postings on the Vietnam forum are up...Since "TH is too expensive, and everyone is now heading to VN". I think people will continue to come to Thailand, but maybe split their time in Vietnam/Cambodia to extend out another 30 days come the High season.

Thanks!  I know I had intended to take the Gulf route, but the idiocy in the ME has led me to an alternate routing.

If I'm interpreting your location correctly as Chiang Mai, do you know if arriving in Hua Hin before mid -Oct will help finding a 3-6 month lease for an apartment?

Regarding accommodation, I don't think you need to worry. There are plenty of places to stay, even if you're arriving early, you won't have trouble finding a place to stay.

The Vietnam forum is similarly down in postings/questions.

I haven't been to Hua Hin since before COVID, but I recently talked to a long-term Chiang Mai expat, who spent a month in Hua Hin to escape the Smoke season up North. He said he enjoyed Hua Hin, and is possibly looking at long term plans.

I originally moved to Chiang Mai in Oct 2022. I was kind of thinking, since I was Early, maybe I could get a better price on a rental. Nope...I actually had the feeling, that the rental people were holding back (sorry nothing available), perhaps knowing that in a month or 2, the high season would mean higher rental prices. You should have no problem finding a rental.

Thanks, all.  I have, even as my departure/arrival dates have shifted (to my very strong frustration...), reached out by various means to try to get information on specific rentals in Hua Hin.

To date ZERO responses.  I suppose I will have to knock on doors physically upon arrival to get information?  I had hoped to get a head start, to avoid an extended hotel stay.....
