Connecting with Expat Communities

Hi all,


I will be relocating to Colombo from September for my job for two years, and this is going to be my first time in Sri Lanka. (My last post was in Burundi, in Eastern Africa.)

I will be moving there alone and would like to know what is the best way to find expat friends there.

I have signed up to several expat groups on Facebook, but none seems to be very active...

If you have any advices, I will deeply appreciate your help!

Hopefully, you will be able to connect with some fellow expats who are currently in Sri Lanka and can share their experiences with you.


Do you already have a specific region in mind where you plan to settle? Knowing your destination might help others provide more targeted advice and recommendations.

Thanks for your quick reponse.

I will be in Colombo and am looking for an apartment in Colombo 2 or 3 to be able to walk/bike to work.

Usually I meet people on Internations, Meet-ups, etc., but none seems to be very active in Colombo.

If you or anyone have tips, I will appreciate them.
