S pass rejected

Patriciasoso

Hello,

Im from the philippines and been working in singapore for a year and a half now as sales for construction. I was given a 2 years Spass by my current employer in which they recently renewed. The renewal was approved and I was given Spass valid for a year.

I then applied for a new employer, same position (sales) but this time in IT industry.  The salary is higher, about $2800. My pass for the new employer was rejected.

I checked SAT and said I should be qualified. However, with the new employer, they only asked me to give my certificates and other documents but was never asked to signed a form or job offer since they told me they're waiting for the pass to be approved.

Is it possible that it was rejected because I didnt sign anh forms or is it because i just got renewed by my current company.

Please advice. Thanks!

It was most probably rejected either because you don't have the required work experience in the IT industry (since your background is in construction), or because the new employer cannot hire you (e.g. quota problems) or because there are sufficient locals who can do the job (and must be hired first).
The authorities are currently reducing the number of foreigners employed in Singapore, so better stay where you are and be glad you got a pass renewal!

Agreed with Beppi. Getting work pass is tougher than earlier. I had shared an article last month which was post Finance Budget, nearly 5% foreign work force will be reduced in less than 2 years. It’s a significant number looking at overall foreigner quota. You can read the article below:
