Employment pass

When I checked my EP application status at MOM's website, it shows "invalid, your application has not been approved. please contact your employer" I have yet to received any news on my IPA from my employer, does this message still mean that my application is in the midst of being approved?

Invalid means reject. So sorry.

reasons only employer will know need to talk to your HR

Ozbazin is correct: Your EP was rejected.

You should, together with the employer, find out why (the employer, not you, can ask MoM). Then, you can decide whether you have grounds to address the rejection reason in an appeal.

Adding to the replies above: if the EP was rejected, here’s how the appeal works.

Who appeals: only the employer, or the employment agent that submitted the application, can appeal, through MOM’s EP eService.

Deadline: within 3 months of the rejection date.

What works: MOM gives the employer the reasons. An appeal only succeeds if it answers those reasons with new evidence, such as a revised salary, a fuller job description, verified qualifications, or proof that the employer tried to hire locally. Resubmitting the same information rarely changes the outcome.

Common reasons: a salary below the qualifying level for your age (from S$5,600 a month, higher with age), a COMPASS score under 40 points, qualifications that don’t match the role, a new employer with little track record, or a job ad that didn’t run correctly on MyCareersFuture.

Before appealing, the employer can run your details through MOM’s Self-Assessment Tool to see which stage you failed. If the problem is structural, a fresh application after fixing it is often quicker than an appeal.
