Seeking Advice on S Pass Appeal Process

AnticOverseas

Hello everyone,

I’m reaching out for advice or guidance regarding my S Pass application and appeal process. I’m a recent graduate from NAFA with a Diploma in Theatre (English Drama), and I’m under the Tuition Grant Scheme, which means I have a bond obligation to fulfill. I recently received a job offer as a performer, but my S Pass application was rejected by MOM with the reason, "The candidate is not eligible for a work pass."

Since then, I have been working closely with my employer’s HR and MOM to appeal the decision. My company has already submitted an appeal, and I personally submitted another appeal as well after receiving a letter of support from my Associate Dean at NAFA.

Here’s what I’ve done so far:

1. Submitted the following documents to MOM via email:

   - MOM rejection letter

   - Letter of support from the Associate Dean

   - Latest transcript

   - S Pass eligibility letter

   - Letter of completion from NAFA

   - Diploma certificate (just recently received)

2. I’ve been in touch with my school’s Office of Student Affairs (OSA) and the Ministry of Education (MoE) regarding the issue, as I need to serve my tuition grant bond. I was concerned that MOM might have rejected my initial application because I hadn’t received my diploma certificate yet.

3. My employer has informed me that MOM will need an additional 3 weeks (starting from 1st September) to assess the appeal.

While waiting, I returned to Indonesia to avoid overstaying penalties. I’ve been keeping my employer updated and am still remaining positive about the outcome. I also recently shared my NAFA diploma with them in case it can help expedite the process.

Has anyone here faced a similar situation? Any insights or suggestions on what else I can do or whether the delay could be due to the diploma issue? I’d greatly appreciate any advice or shared experiences!

You have probably done everything possible to increase your chances.

Do you have any idea what could be the reason for the dreaded "The candidate is not eligible for a work pass" result?

It is probably no consolation, but: If you really cannot get a work pass, then your bond is null and void and you are free to look for jobs elsewhere.

Good luck! (You will need it.)
