STVP Pending after 3+weeks

My parents applied for a short term visa 3+ weeks ago through a travel agent and the status is still pending! We haven't heard of such a long wait time before and are wondering if its a wise move to withdraw the application and apply through local sponsor? Please advise

What is best to do depends largely on the reason for the delay.

If it is due to mistakes done by the travel agent, then it might be best to cancel and apply again without mistakes.

But if it is due to additional checks needed, or the processing officer being overworked or inefficient, this would not get any better (but you start again at Zero).

@beppi Thanks for your reply. As you know we are unaware od the reason for applications being pending and the ICA does not share it. Is it advised to wait more?
