Have you found the new NORM? - All be it, temporary.

pej1111

With any change it takes some time to adopt to a new situation, a new job, a new house, a new country, etc. until we start living a normal  life in the new situation  (all be it different to before).  That is when we have found acceptance of the new environment or have familiarized our selves to the new environment to the point it is no longer new.

With COVID19 lock down, i am wonder how many of you have found the new NORM, have you stopped reading every and any article on it, watching it daily on TV to see the latest figures.?

Or are you still in the transition to acceptance stage?

In my house hold we are nearly there, taking our face masks when we leave the house, washing our hands a lot more frequently is now accepted.  I and my GF and daughter do it by routine as well as the understanding that been able to head our for dinner once or twice a week is no longer the norm.  We know longer log on to every site we have to read about COVID19, we just accept it.

Have you reached that point yet, or are you still in the learning to adapt stage?

What do you miss most from the old routine?

What is the biggest frustration to you with the new "NORM"?

Biggest frustration with the new norm is landing at JFK on 4/22/20 and having no transportation available.  The buses are not running and my limo service is not allowed to work until May 1 at the earliest  So now I need to find a friend or family member to drive to JFK and give us a ride to Bethlehem,  PA.  Not going to be easy.

mugtech - can you rent a car one way? That's what I usually do in that situation.

PEJ - thoughtful questions.  I'm still in the adjustment phase I guess. I'm in good shape, but I have asthma. It's rarely troublesome but I worry how my lungs might react if I *did* get it, so I'm taking it pretty seriously as to precautions. For those who don't know, if you do need a ventilator it's pretty much over at that point anyway. So basically in my mind it's something that could actually kill me.

I have a good setup at my home here in the States, lots of space from others, great weather and unlimited areas nearby to bike and hike, which we are still allowed to do here.  But I am isolated due to social distancing. Can't do the things I normally do here in terms of eating out, travel, visiting friends, etc. I'm not a social butterfly so it's not a huge deal but it does get old.

I also can't return to PI right now due to restrictions, so I guess my overall feeling is one of being constrained.  I'm grateful to be healthy, I'm enjoying all the time in the kitchen.. but definitely feeling restricted. Other than that it's all good and no issues coping. I'm very grateful also at the effective measures taken there in Cebu which have really worked well, so I don't have to worry about my GF and the kids.

Cheers,
JB

Things are so boring. Have a routine check off list.

I get down to number 99, this forum.

There is a lot of opportunity in this. I had to change the way I look at things, but I have options now that did not exist or I could not see before the virus struck. Just saying. Don't ask me how. Ask yourself because you have the answer.

Had  considered that, but with an 8 hour ride to NAIA, a 4 hour flight to South Korea, 5 hour layover and then 14 hour flight to JFK I would not be in good enough shape to drive across NYC and NJ at that time.
