Just before my 13A renewal I became a widower which cast some doubt if I would still be eligible for 13A status. I contacted an agency that deals with immigration and their answer was I no longer could be able to retain 13A.

My stepson in the states did some sleuthing and obtained information that contradicted the information from the agency I contacted. He then contacted BI and got a copy of the act allowing widow/widowers to continue 13A status.

My new 13A card shows Civil Status: Widowed, expiring 10 Feb. 2031.

I was able to renew without personally visiting BI, another stepson did all the paperwork for me.

On past posts I offered a copy of the act and supplied copies to three members, so if anyone else finds themselves in a similar situation contact me for the copy of the act.
