Aluminium roll up shutters.

bigpearl

Hope some members can help/offer advice on the topic posted.

For a long time I have looked at roll up windows and door shutters and mainly for the crappy weather and typhoons we get here from time to time, new windows and old windows leak like sieves, sliding doors the same especially at the bottom, it's frustrating and the glass companies can't or won't fix the driving rain problems.

I have looked long and hard and found a company finally that will manufacture what we want,,,,,, pretty standard stuff in most countries but hard to find here. I found the company but the trouble is they are way down in Puerto Galera........ So far, seems an Aussie operator sourcing Aussie product but they want P 50K to courier 8 roll up blinds, delivery only, no installation service etc. Probably P 250/300K to manufacture.Even their site states Manila but it all comes out from their factory far further south.

What I'm hoping is one of our astute members can advise/offer info on a company in Luzon that manufactures and offers services on this Island.

I look forward to any input.

Cheers, Steve.

If you have not already,

Thanks vehicross, yes I've looked but can only find the garage roller doors. The aluminium units have a smaller profile and thus a smaller roller hood instead of the large hoods you see everywhere. It was just an ask and I'll continue to scour the net, found one company but too far away.

Well the quote is in and @ P 485K for 8 windows and 2 doors,,,,,,, delivery a further P 45K. Then We have to find a credible installer and an electrician, who can guess the cost as well as the availability of decent trades.

Think for the odd time we get driving rain once or twice a year and a typhoon every 3/4 years we will put up with the towels and buckets.

Twas an interesting thought and option but one we won't run with.

Great minds think alike. Steve once again I learn from you.  I had always wanted to invest in the roll shutters for when I travel and most importantly for typhoon winds and flying debris.  I guess best option is replace the windows if they are damaged.

Well Don, as said cost prohibitive compared to washing 20 towels after the event/s. As for flying debris, we have had 2 cat 3's and one cat 4 or better in 7 years and not a broken window and a roof full of solar panels never damaged but heavy rain being driven horizontally by 150/200 klick winds,,,,,, windows leak as do roofs.

The French guy that built the Mc Mansion behind us that the mayor now owns, he got sick of leaking windows and after 3 years of a new build had them all replaced by another company professing their windows don't leak and at great cost I'm sure.......... They still leaked and he wasn't a happy camper.

Unlike western countries aluminium roller shutters are very expensive here as they are imported.

The Canadian guy that built the original house here had timber awning type drop down coverings that were extremely heavy and dangerous if they fell on someone, also made the house look like a sari store.

While I have no inexpensive answers perhaps there is merit in Grahams shower curtains?
