hello everyone ...
How is life in Malaysia currently ?
Except for the tourist economy, are you feeling strong negative effects of the Covid crisis on the country's economy ?

Thank you for your answer ... It's like almost everywhere in the world.
In your opinion, is it the lack of tourists that affects the Malaysian economy so much?
I am in talks for a partnership with a French restaurant brand already established in Malaysia, and who would like to open a new restaurant in Kuala Lampur ...
But given the health crisis, I wonder about the profitability of such a project intended mainly for Malaysian customers ...

Ps: sorry for my bad english
Sounds interesting. I hope to move to Malaysia this August. Nothing as grand as opening a restaraunt though as I intend on teaching. I hope the crisis improves before then.

Are you a Chef?
Hello Chrystalvisuals
No, I am not a chef, but a craftsman in french food specialties, to say the least for the moment.
I really want to know what is the impact and economic analysis of entrepreneurs in business in Kuala. cordially
Ah ok. Sorry I haven't a clue but wish you the best. When were you thinking of moving to Malaysia to start this business
I replied in dm
Wonder if the restaurant is Paul? Have enjoyed it at many locations around the world including the one in KL in the Pavilion Mall.
Ok, covid has made life miserable in all respects and aspects and I wont list them.

Restaurants......some are open for take-out only which has severely hurt them because people would rather stay home and cook. I shouldnt say "rather," I just mean its more of a headache to go and wait outside, maybe in a storm for a meal youd have to drag home and still make a mess, not to mention that maybe you got infected in the process. Ive seen many restaurants close and not re-open at all. In any case, "take-out only" has meant a severe drop in business, however business is measured. They are suffering, as are hotels and anything "tourist."
Thank you very much for your reply. Effectively an economic and social disaster worldwide. good luck to all.
I'm mainly looking for information on the economic situation in Malaysia.
Wisdom invites me to be patient and has postponed my project for the moment. Too many uncertainties about the future now.
Hi ,

I am Malaysian . I had a French Italian restaurant in KL before I moved back to Europe . If you would like some pointer you can let me know , happy to share with you .

Are you in France now ? I am still very much in contact with KL friends .

Cheer melissa
We're working on a move to KL later this year, hopefully in summer. We have to be realistic, it's grim everywhere except for in Dubai where we lived for seven years (all businesses open there), but a new country means a new adventure and eventually all will reopen again. If MM2H reopens, I'm sure Malaysia could attract many people from abroad willing to spend money.
I would think that after what MMH2 holders who happened to be out of the country had to face on account of the travel restrictions during the pandemic, some of the charm of MMH2 has got worn off.
It's really no different from what happened in many other countries though. We had a colleague stuck in UK for months and a friend in Kuwait for 100 days because none of them were able to return to their homes in UAE. Far from ideal indeed.
you are right.

we should spare a thought for all the Australians who are stranded overseas and are not being allowed to return to Australia.
hello Mélissa ... Thank you for your comment. I just wanted to know how life was at the moment in Kuala ... An economic disaster like everywhere in the world ... So, I will be patient before considering an expatriation ... I am abroad at the moment ... Not very motivated to return to France. Good continuation
hello, yes indeed no other choice but to wait ...
Hello, yes certainly for sure ... As far as I am concerned, it is not MM2H expatriation that I am considering ...
Hello jk1976 ... Yes catastrophic situation everywhere in the world ... Incredible this disaster !!!
Hi, Safety81. This situation is unbelievable ... let's wait for an economic disaster worse than the Covid !!!
Hi, I am an accountant in KL, based on my observation working with my business clients large & small I can tell you the impact of Covid on commercial activities in the country, it is a carnage.   We are seeing so many business collapses now and into the near future.

I would like to end this thread with a positive vibe though, let's look forward to post Covid recovery, we will become better and stronger after this trial.
Hi Gia Robertson... Thank you very much for your feedback.
It is an economic carnage which confirms this all over the world ...
The impact of the Covid is worse on the economy than on the health of people. A real madness!
I believe that if governments don't realize this sooner rather than later, the world is heading for very, very difficult times.
