Hello All,

I just want to know, How much cost of living in Selangor.

As I am Senior Software eng. and I will got 6550 Myr is it enough to live there and save as well.

please help me and advice me.

The salary is very low for a senior software engineer. At least RM7,500 upwards is probably the minimum.

Remember income tax is 28% rest of 2018 until July 2019 but repayment of overpayment* possible once tax resident (i.e. in Malaysia for 182 days in any tax year - Jan-Dec)

A lot will depend how much you spend on accommodation. Sharing will save money but you will probably still have to pay around RM750 for a room (less if you share a room).

*overpayment would be the difference between 28% non resident rate and resident rates which can be found in this guide

Maximum savings when tax-resident will be around RM3500- per month

Please be aware you cannot arrive in Malaysia on a tourist visa or an e-visa and get it converted to a work permit. You must arrive on a single entry visa (VDR - visa with reference)
