Carla Khadijah

Hi, I'm living and working in Malaysia. I have spent several years working in West Africa namely Senegal and Guinea. I have also spent time living in the U.S., France and the United kingdom.  I'm Interested in meeting international cultured intellectuals. And, interesting people in general who like positive, clean and expansive social experiences.

All is well here.
My family and I are new to KL, been here about a week, but so far all is well.

Hi Carla, and welcome to the forum.
I hope you find new friends here, and get the chance to explore new cultural experiences.
I can offer a suggestion, wander up to Taiping when you get a free few days.
Lots of cheap but nice local guest houses (I like the old government rest house near the prison), and a whole world of interesting history about the British empire in Malaysia.
Loads to explore if you enjoy a bit of history.
You'll also find out a lot about the local Chinese culture, extremely interesting.

Just outside Taiping is Kuala Sepetang (Port Weld). It has an interesting history too and is on the coast where fishing vessels drop off their catches. Needess to say the couple of restaurants there sell the freshest possible shellfish and fish of all types. There are also kilns that can be visited, as the trees in the extensive mangroves make the best charcoal. As it is about 3 hours north of KL, its a good place to stop off if you are on the way to visit wonderful Penang.
