Hello, from UK and new to this forum but not new to Malaysia, having worked here in the 1990's and got married to a Malaysian in 1999 and been back to visit many times.

Wife has indefinite leave to remain (now called No Time Limit) visa for the UK and has lived there with me for 20 years, with visits back to Malaysia as my work allowed.

Now I am retired, and she is working less, along with aging parents in Malaysia, we are spending more time here (3 months on my MDAC).

I have heard of the Spouse Visa, which would allow me to remain longer without the need to Scoot down from Kuantan to Singapore to do another MDAC for another 3 months stay.

I had tried to apply for this at the regional Immigration office in Kuantan, which was a farce for a variety of reasons, not least the 'provincial' way they have of (not) doing things here in the backwaters so that was unsuccessful.

I am thinking of trying again at the 'proper' Immigration office at Putrajaya in KL, maybe next year when we come back, and I wonder if anyone has specific and recent experience of doing a Spouse Visa (Long Term Social Visit Pass) at that location.

Hi there, I have recently renewed my Spouse visa, I understand what is needed etc. I am also from the UK, my wife is Malay

Hi everyone,

Ryan here from Kuala Lumpur. I work as a licensed real estate negotiator, mostly around the KLCC and TRX side of town, and a good part of my week is spent helping expats and MM2H applicants make sense of the property market here. What things really cost, how the foreign-buyer rules work, which numbers to trust and which to treat as marketing.

I joined because the questions on this forum are the same ones my clients ask me across a coffee table, so I figured I would make myself useful where I can. Ask away on anything KL property related, buying rules for foreigners, the rental market, specific buildings or neighbourhoods, and I will give you the straight version, including when the honest answer is "don't buy that one."

Looking forward to the discussions.

Ryan
