I have a post Here, that describes what happened when a non-chinese tried to set up an internet business in china. It did not go well.

One of the problems that they ran into was cultural. china is not the United States, and like it or not, most foreigners will make assumptions on laws and society based on their home-nation experiences. You might really like the article.
