Permanent residence

Hi all,
I would like to introduce myself;
My name is Morad and I was born in Morocco and have lived in the U.S for the last 15 years. I have both Moroccan and American citizenship. I have been married to my wife for eight years now. We have been living in the DC area since our marriage. My wife has both South African and American citizenship.
We are contemplating the idea of moving back to South Africa ( capetown) and was wondering what the best and quickest way for me to get a resident and work permit? and how long it will take?
I would like to be ready before heading to the South African Consulate in Washington DC.
Thank you so much for you help!

Why don't you look online at the SA Consulate website to get the information you require. Or the SA Govt immigration website.
Stumpy,
I already checked out the website and the types of permits are confusing to me. I also called the consulate and no one is answering.
I just want to make sure that I have a work and resident permit before arriving to SA.
The best would be a Relative's Spousal Permit, which allows you to stay in South Africa for as long as your wife is there. If you wish to study, work or open a business, you can then apply for an endorsement to your permit to do so.
ImmigrationSouthAfrica, thank you for the reply!
is the work endorsement something I can apply for here in the US or I can only have it in South Africa?
Thank you
You can apply for it at any SA mission, however you'll need a signed work offer first.
ImmigrationSouthAfria,
Thank you so much for your help
That's my pleasure! :)
It is interesting how the South African Consulate in DC is not answering their phone. I guess I will have to drive there,
I am in the UK and lookng at this myself, however I find the New York SA commission really user friendly (compared to the UK one) so this may be a good place to start in finding information and forms.
Thank you pikkewyntjie, I will look into the NY consulate.
