Nice parts of Mauritius for living in.

Guest72364927

Hello everyone,
Could someone recommend nice parts of Mauritius to live in.
We need to be near the local culture rather than the ghetto parts if they exist.
Few friends have lived near Tamarin and parts of black river and they have advised that the new immigrants on the island look down upon the locals, and bring with them the mentality that they are superior.

I am not trying to offend anyone, but looking for a family friendly areas with the facility of having everything at your doorstep and a good place to raise kids.
I am moving from England and would really like the advice of someone who is either Mauritian or someone who loves the local culture.
Areas recommended so far:
Port Louis,
Triolet,
Albion,
Souillac.

One thing which I could not understand is why are the locals looked down upon by the new arrivals. After all they are escaping from from Apartheid and are immigrants after all. Just because they are bringing money in the country does not change the fact that they will always be immigrants in Mauritius. Mauritius has always been a major player in Africa and was developing before this new inflow of wealth. Also why are foreigners not able to live side by side to locals and buy there. Why only make them buy in smart city's.?

Is Trombeau Bay a reasonable area as I do not want to move into a crime-ridden area, but as maisonmaurice rightly says, tapping into the culture will be great!
