Suggestions on cleaning services

Hi, I’m a South African with a property in Tamarin, Black River.
We reside in South Africa on a permanent basis & use this property for holidays and possibly renting it out in future.

We are however battling finding reliable (affordable) cleaning persons / services to clean the property a few times a month. I have 2 South African business partners also with property experiencing exactly the same problem.

We have unfortunately found that previous cleaning staff would simply not pitch to clean the property as regularly as agreed or suddenly demand double the fee originally agreed on. Unfortunately trust has been a major problem since we are not there to supervise.

The property is a 2 bedroom apartment with minimal cleaning necessary for most of the year when we are not there.

Any advice or suggestions on how we can get honest, reliable cleaning for the properties?

Dear Carin,

The best is to leave it to an agency to look after your properties such that they can then supervise the cleaning and also provide you half-yearly assessment of the state of the property.

I guess you have spent substantial amount of money to acquire the place and not taking good care of it knocks a couple of $$$ off its value.

Unfortunately, most estate agencies in Mauritius don't provide a full management package which is quite common in UK for example. But I do know one agency that can provide such services and won't charge you an arm and a leg. In fact, they are specialised in Estate management.
