What are your thoughts on the phone ban in schools?

Veedushi

Hello everyone!

From the second term onwards, mobile phones and connected devices such as tablets could be banned in schools in Mauritius, except for educational or medical use.

This is a long-awaited measure, but it is already sparking debate, as the Minister of Education calls for cooperation between parents and teachers.

What do you think as parents and teachers in Mauritius?

Is it really applicable in everyday life?

Is it the right solution to address digital challenges?

Thank you for sharing your point of view. (Please note that your contributions may be featured in a dedicated article in the Expat Mag.)

See you soon,

Well, Mauritius has been too slow in responding to the ban on mobile phones in schools and colleges. You just have to gather the number of antisocial behaviours in the educational establishments to realise the impact and long term damages. I am not saying there were no anti social behaviours in the past but with the impact of mobile phones. Parent’s have relinquished their responsibilities by giving in to their children demands and are unable to supervise them. Now.  You are expecting the teachers to take over parental responsibilities/care!!
