Horse keeping

sannefleurvb

Hello everyone,

We are looking to moving to Mauritius next year and we are wondering if it is allowed in some areas to keep a horse or two horses near your house, on your own land.

Does anyone know? Thank you so much! With kind regards, Sanne-Fleur

Hi, we live here.  Kids all ride at the various riding stables where you can certainly own your own and keep at the stable yard.  Or half lease / full lease.  Or simply use stable horses for lessons.  All horses or 90% of them come off the race track.  You may get lucky and buy a school yard horse.

Expats either rent houses / apartments here or buy and live in housing complexes.  Have not heard of anyone renting say a small holding with land.  So unless you know a local with a small farm, don't think you would rent or buy anywhere with land.

Good luck! :)

@tashwilmot hi, Thank you your reply! So I should find out if it would be possible for an expat to buy a property with a bit of land.

Thanks again!
