Bukavu expats (and possibly Goma)

joelfriedman82

My wife Grace is Congolese, we have an apartment in Bukavu, and we own properties in Chinjoma (a village in Kabaré District about 15 km north). I have been in DRC for 3 years, on and off because I still have business in the US, in Arizona. Grace has a non-profit organization that operates in eastern DRC and we also have enterprises in the agricultural field, including an ecological cooking fuel substitute for charcoal and exporting Lake Kivu region coffee to the US. We would like to develop a local group for business networking and socialization, and we are able to host small groups at our apartment in Bukavu. I'm not sure about the rules for providing direct contact information, so please respond to me here. Thank you

Hi Joël, kudos for what you as couple are achieving.

I would like to understand. By “local” you mean only in the Kivu or you are open to take onboard those all around the DRC. Keep well !

Hello, it’s a great work you’re doing with your wife. It’s a very interesting work there. I’m interested in that and familiar with what you intend to do.  We should connect and have a talk around this. Have a good day!

I appreciate all of your responses and apologize for my late reply (I didn't get any notifications from the site). We are open to hosting small groups or individuals only in Bukavu and Chinjoma, where we have our apartment and house. The latter is not so easy to get to and requires some walking because we are not on a main road, but it's beautiful. We are open to connecting with expats and Congolese everywhere, we are just limited to South Kivu Province and the vicinity of Bukavu for now. Thank you

I'm moving this summer to the equator Province to work on a development project but I hope to also start looking for possibility to buy land so I can have my own farm and place to settle down, I never considered south Kivu because of safety reasons but after reading your post's I feel like I should visit you and your wife at some point and check out the region for myself!
