How to make friends in Angola

Angolans are very friendly people 3 ways i think you can get better acquainted are:

1. Take a keen interest to learn their language and culture.
2. Be friendly and courteous your self and always remember you are a guest of the Angolans.
3. Stop bragging about how things are done back home

amigos and amigas, i am IMRAN, and i am new to Luana, Angola, its about 55 days that i am over here, but believe me, i am in Coquiros, and i have spended about 34 days without electricity in my building. oh at this time Luanda is just like hell to me.

i am planned to live over here for aroung three years, but but but what to do.

how to make friends in Luanda, all it needs is your confidence. specially to make a freind from the white ones needs that and just one thing more u must speak purtugees.

The Angolan people is a very welcoming people so there is no much problem in making new friends. one of the ways to make new friends is to ask a co-worker who is a national, to present their friends.

I am from Angola but I have lived in London for 8 years but I love my country. I lived 12 years in Lisbon and I moved to London. Angolans are extremely warm, friendly and receptive people. The key to making more friends than you can possibly fit into your daily schedule is learning at least enough Portuguese to carry on a reasonable conversation with them. The language is really not that difficult to learn, especially if any of you have previous experience in Spanish or any of the other romance languages.

I learned Portuguese back in Canada in 2001, before coming to Brazil in January 2002, where I've been living permanently since. Because of my previous experience with the French language (which I was terrible at in school) I picked up Portuguese very quickly, because now at the age of 51 it made sense (much more than the French did when I was younger). Portuguese is now the 5th most widely spoken language in the world with around 215 million speakers. In fact, it is now more widely spoken than French, German and Italian. English has dropped from the second most widely spoken language to No. 3 in recent years and has been surpassed by Spanish which took over second place.

I read, write and speak Portuguese better than about 80 percent of Brazilians who were born and raised with the language. I even do complex ENG <>PORT translations so I can speak with relative authority on this issue. You will never regret learning the language, trust me.

From my experience the best way to make friends here is going out on fridays or saturdays night to restaurants, bars and clubs in Luanda or spending a weekend on Mussulo island. There's also a daily afternoon sports meeting on the beach right opposite to clubs Tweenty and Dclub on Ilha.
