Bringing nude/sexual art to Kuwait

i will be moving to Kuwait for the first time this summer and want to bring two pieces of art with me but am worried they might be considered porn. One is a silhouette of a naked woman and the other is a silhouette of a man going down on a woman. I understand that porn is illegal in Kuwait, but is that limited to traditional porn mags and movies or does art also fall into that category?

First question that comes to mind, Why? Yes, porn is illegal and you would be risking possible arrest or black list and deportation if you get caught so why would you even want to try it? It's not like you are permanently moving here, you will go back to your 'art' once you finish your time here. *face palm*

Leave your artwork at home.

Art is many things to many people, and might very well be art even if I think it sounds like disgusting rubbish.
However, my feeling the need to vomit at your 'art' doesn't matter, it's what the customs or police in your desired country think.
I suspect they'll take a very dim view of it.

Thank you  :unsure

Pls pls don't bring such art to kuwait .its rubbish .

If this is artwork you created yourself then you can remake it here. If it is something you bought, then all is good cause you'll have more space for things that you know are allowed here.

Ponder this ... can you post photos of this artwork on this blog? Or can you put them on a desk on your office in the US?

Wow people can be such prudes. I have a beautiful painting that's a silhouette of a naked woman hanging in my living room and I didn't have an issue bringing it in...  :proud

@kuwait411: Not everyone has a "home" where the can leave their stuff so that's why people tend to move ALL their stuff when they move...

Probably not.
Prude or not, kids might very well see it, so it would be deleted.

True, and others (including myself) will think it's rubbish, but that's just a point of view.

However, the authorities might very well think it's porn, and that could lead to trouble.

Subtle cultural pressure to convince someone, not to 'see' their view, but to 'act' accordingly to their view ... practiced often here ... and total bulls#$@ ... lol

Now you have my "view"    :gloria:cool::D

Funny to see the discussion turns into if this particular art beautiful or not.

Depends on your situation: if you have a place of your own (not shared) I think it will be okay.
How do you want to bring it in? By airplane and in your suitcase? This can cause some troubles.
Or are you going to ship it? Then you have might more luck.

But: this advice is guaranteed until you reed my reply...

I could care less what's on the canvas and or your subjective viewpoint of beauty -v- ugly ... the point remains to being a 'symptomatic' bias and/or societal based cultural intolerance to diversity in opinions.

better to keep them there its more safetly

Hi everybody,

Please note that i have received several reports concerning this topic. Indeed, this thread is really going nowhere and i think that the initiator got enough opinions concerning the fact of bringing nude / sexual art to Kuwait.

@ sayitloud > Everything has been said here, everyone advises you to keep your art safely at your place instead of bringing them along with you. Please make sure to avoid trouble with the law.

Thanks all

Priscilla
