Hey every1,

Well most of the people living in abu dhabi know bout the new paid parking spaces "mawqif"!! its just making my life hell over here. i have to park like 10 mins away from my house and walk everyday in the hot sun to get to the car.
i really hope they find a solution for the parking in abu dhabi soon coz its killing me.

Mawaqif is the result of the lack of planning for off-street car parking in downtown AD. Very few buildings are designed with private off-street parking and the result was the chaos with people abandoning their vehicles anyhow.

My office is close to the junction of 2nd and 9th and I have to say that in the 7 or 8 months since paid Mawaqif parking has been operating, the chaos has ebbed considerably.

@ Hosamban...residents of blocks in Mawaqif zones get a reduced rate on their permit, or are you still too tight to pay the reduced rate?

In some parts of AD thesee guys on their segways just layin wait behind some care waiting for u to stop andput on yoour hazard lights so they stick a ticket on ur wiper within a 30 sec to 2 minute period ... They even do OUTSIDE of hours that they say that parking isnt allowed and the only answer u will ever get from any of the offices is that they cant do anything other than give u a 25% discount within the first 30days if u pay ... freakn pirates

I think mawaqif paid park is help to reduce cars in Abu Dhabi.
because some people two cars and some family have more than one car. in addition, some people stop the car and leaved outside the country fro couple days.

So its kind to reduce traffic jam in parking.

regards,
