Looking to provide WIFI in a rental in Playa Dorado without getting into a contract with Claro - I see mostly pay by usage/portable WIFI through VIVA - does anyone have any experience with this? Any lessons learned?

Viva is a cheap option but the company is famous for having one of the worst signal in the country.

I agree. By far the cheapest option but check the signal where you are.
Suprisingly the signal in some rural zones is much better than the competition.
I am amazed at how good the rates are for unlimited wi fi on ones cell phone. Get topped up by a friend for 145 pesos for 7 days! How do they do it?
And your credit doen't get wiped after not using during a short time period.
