we are finally getting quotes for our new house to be built in Isabela, our first quote has come in priced without door and windows- is this common? they state "..because it is taking more time than normal because of the demand with the industy of construction".  with that said, any recommendations?

Sitka

Hi,  yes.  That is correct.  We are remodeling and installing new doors and windows.  About a year ago I got quotes from four different vendors. They all had the same story. Due to the hurricane, demand was very high and materials in short supply.  We ordered several custom doors and windows a year ago. They are now finally ready for installation.

We did get a few windows from Home Depot off the shelf for immediate installation    But custom work will take awhile.  Good luck

Ugh, lol. Island life 😁

Sitka, can you recommend some vendors? we're just now getting building quotes so maybe by the time they actually construct we'll have the windows in :)

Part of the issue with lack of supplies are the taxes on inventory. Most businesses only warehouse what they know they can move in 90 to 30 days because of those taxes. So a lot of times you have to place an order for anything fancy and wait 3 months to get them. Order what you want, put them to the side and then contact the installer / contractor for a quick switch over.

Ohhhh,. Kkty

Thanks, another question- anything wrong with
using Home Depot windows and doors? Is it just a size concern?

ReyP

A lot of the windows and doors in PR come from Home Depot. Sizes should be standard, measure the current windows and take a photo then go to HD.
Your measurements may not be exact given that the window may float within the hole or part of it may be inside the cement, I would not worry it is not exact to a 1/8 of an inch. You can always return them.

also if you are getting a regular contractor or a HD contractor to install them, they will measure and tell you what to get

Hi, we are building a house in Rincon. We are using Comercial Noel out of Aguada. They do both windows and doors. They are a locally owned and run company who are fantastic to work with, cost efficient, and they have a lot of choices.

We could not be more pleaed with our decision to use them!

@ColoradoMermaid Wondering if you'd still reccomend them? If so, do you have their contact information? Thank you

@dishanelise :

This thread is quite old and you may not receive a feedback from ColoradoMermaid.
I would therefore advise you to create your own thread in the Puerto Rico forum and to ask your questions.

Thanks,

Priscilla
