Greetings. I am trying to migrate to New Zealand, but can't find a job and don't have enough business experience to apply for an investor visa. Would it be possible to buy an existing company (or perhaps set up a limited company?) and then hire myself? Has anybody ever had this idea, and did it work?

Hi John,
You can register for a limited company or transfer a limited company from elsewhere but you'll need to go through an accountant to negotiate the IRD process. I suspect you'll find it hard if you don't have a job first as they will want ti know the nature of your business, expected income etc etc
