Married in the US, living in Nairobi

Hello!

I am an American citizen, currently living in Texas. I am engaged to a Kenyan citizen. This summer, we are getting married and later moving to Nairobi.

I have the work permits and that side of things taken care of, but I don't know what is required for our marriage license. What do we need to make sure the wedding is legally recognized in Kenya?

Will the one from the US be sufficient, or will we have to have a second option once in Kenya?

Get a certificate of no impediment from your state  indicating that there is nothing barring you from getting married  in Kenya

The Certificate of No Impediment is not available in the USA.  Instead, you must have a legal affidavit, in which it is stated that you are free to marry.

Below is a link that may help you:

Once married in  USA Just go with your marriage certificate to the Kenyan Embassy or consulate
deposit a copy of your Marriage with them
they will transfer it to Kenyan authority
Thats it
