There are way too many comments about Mexico showing negative experiences. So, I'll start a blog, and interactively we can discuss meaningful happenings.

Life in Mazatlan :  To live an an old Mexican city, that is young and vibrant, filled with contradictions, and wonderful people, holds many surprises.
Retirees will quickly say that it's an ideal place, and a budding scholar will more likely see it as a center of learning.
A morning walk on the Malecon, starting just before sunrise, has become a daily ritual for many.Friendships a made, clubs have formed and soon you, the visitor will take it for granted.
We joke here about the idioma, why, it's "Spanglish of course ! Everyone speaks a little. At first you will surprised at the polite and friendly people, but very soon you feel comfortable with our lifestyle.
The weather is predictable, always perfect.
Food, has almost become an obsession here. Everyone has favourites and opinions, and a crowded eatery  is not always the sign of perfection.
Things changed a little, and ripples of fear went through the city, with the drug gangs shooting each other, but crime is much lower than any comparable city. There is a large police presence here, both state and federal. Our municipal police were corrupt and the new governor was going to remove them, so now they are no longer troublesome.
So, we live in safety and security, we have returned to normal.

Now, we revert to the problems of the pesky tourists !!  So, when you visit, pretend that you live here, from day one.

Hello, please note that this is a very old thread. I would suggest that you introduce yourself and you seek advice from members on a new thread of the Mexico forum.

All the best
