Rent for the three bedroom two bathroom apartment I had in El Rehab was 10,500 EGP per month. Water, gas, and garbage collection cost an additional 350 EGP per month. A fresh juice cost anywhere from 10 - 50 EGP. An imported Lindt chocolate bar cost about 70 EGP.

Hi Priscilla,

Here an global update from the costs for living in Hurghada:

Full furnished apartment is 100 till 150 euro (2000 - 3000 EGP), bills 10 euro (200 EGP), internet 9 euro (180 EGP)
Cost for taxi if needed 10 EGP, white busses 2 EGP (in and arround the city)
For food I spend 1000 EGP per month, including sigarettes. One package of Target is 15 EGP.

Mobile phone is 40 EGP per month from Orange, Panther 40 (300 calls and 1,5 GB), and my company phone from Etisalat for 100 EGP (800 callminutes and 2,5 GB). Note that most providers don't charge calling to the same network, and also unlimited SMS's.

As I don't have kids and live alone, I don't need much. No going out for dinner or a drink, and if, then it is by invitation of collegues, but as the gentlemen here, when you are invited, it is a unpolite to offer to pay for yourself or for your companions, and they will be embarraced by it. So different then Europe.
My expat health insurance is still in Spain, and it is for free, for a suplemental particular insurance I pay 160 euro per year, with worldwide services of all kinds, even the dentist.

Futher I have an cancellation insurance, cuz of my weekly flights, and sometimes not able to get my plane in time. This cost 8 euro per month.

Conclusion for me: live is good, the people friendly and the climate excellent. For me no reason to return to Europe.
