Keeping in touch while living in Slovenia

Hello everyone,

What are the best ways you've found for keeping in touch with friends and family back home while living in Slovenia? How frequently do you stay in touch with loved ones?

Are there local equivalents to common instant messaging and online video calling services that you prefer or are more widely used?

If there is a sizeable time difference, how do you manage this?

Do you make international phone calls from a landline or mobile phone from Slovenia? What do you think of the cost?

Thank you for sharing your experience.

I mostly use the internet on my phone. I use Face chat, Facebook and Viber to call the majority of my family. I do have to call my father from my landline. This can get pricey but we purchased a package to cover the costs.

Because I have wifi set up in my home and I have data on my contract, I rarely get extra costs to call the majority of people I want to talk too.

There is only 1 hour time difference for me. I do have a few people still call me when I am in bed, but I find airplane mode fixed this ;)
