Going forward to KOC -- where to live and which school to choose?

Hello John - good to hear you got the contract.

The KOC office is in Ahmadi, and none of the schools you should be interested in are nearby.  The best schools are considered to be The English School, New English School and Kuwait English School. I recommend you settle in between (Fintas, Egaila, Abu Hassaniya) which will put you around 20 minutes away from school and KOC. Alternatively you can find a place closer to the school, in that case you will have about 30 minute commute to KOC, depending on the traffic of course.

Schools I mentioned are located in Jabriya, Salmiya and Salwa (first two neighboorhoods are not quiet by any means )

I am almost in the same shoes as you are, let me know if you have any specific concerns.

If you have any idea on which school offers International Baccalaureate (IB) program? as my kids in Australia followed this curriculum.

It actually happens that I do. The only one I am aware of is Kuwait Bilingual School (http://www.kbs-edu.com/Information.html), but it is a bit out of the way and don't know much else about it.

well i would say you could live in Fahaheel, Mangaf, Shuwaikh, Andoulus, Eguila, Salmiya, Mahboula, Jabriya, Bayan or Sabah As Salem depends on what kind of environment you want to stay in........well depends where you want your children to study....there are American schools, British schools, Canadian schools, Indian schools, Pakistani schools and even Bilingual schools......if you want to send your children to the best schools then doesn't matter where you stay but if you wanna send them to a school near you then depends on which area you are going to stay in....hope this helped you and if you want to know more about Kuwait then you can PM me.....and feel free to ask away.

hmmm KOC is in Ahmedi and no school even close by the best schools are BSK(British School Kuwait; English school), ASK(American School of Kuwait; American school) CBS(Canadian Bilingual School; Canadian and Arabic school) and NES(New English School; English school......I'm going to provide the list of schools and the place they are located in or their websites....hope this helps:

If your employment directly ( or indirectly) forces you to live in Ahmadi then the choice of your curriculum British/ American/ other will drive your choice of school.
If you choose an American curriculum the nearest school that offers that is probably Future Bilingual at Fahaheel.

If you choose British the nearest and certainly the best, without large amount of travelling ,is English school Fahaheel , misleadingly located in Mangaf blk 3 . Their IGCSE exam results were significantly good enough  to receive recognition internationally which was reported in the Kuwait Times a couple of months ago.

There is also Cambridge International school also in Mangaf blk 3 but I have heard and witnessed when out shopping indifferent pupil behaviour.
