All those locations you listed are pretty good starting points.
Bangsar and Bukit Damasara (also known as Damasara Heights) are right next to each other. Both are great places to stay in. Close to the city center, plenty of amenities, restaurants, groceries, shopping and entertainment within a 2km radius. Damansara Heights would have more options for landed properties and Bangsar for apartments. Bangsar has an added plus in that it has an LRT/train station and also an MRT station (which is close to Damasara but away from the main residential areas). As you know, nobody on landed property wants to be next to a train station.
Mont Kiara is great too. Although I personally find it a bit too crowded and traffic can be very bad in the mornings and evenings - making it tough just to get out of Mont Kiara.
