Where to live in Ecuador

We are thinking of moving to Ecuador, but not sure where. We are coming to visit in July just to see if it's for us and if we like it , we might move for a year and go from there.

Which area is the best to live?

The "best" area varies from person to person depending on personal preferences.

Tell us what you like - city life, or country life? Or something in-between? Do you prefer beaches or mountains, hot weather or cooler weather, rainy or dry? Is health care access a big concern? What is your budget, economy or luxury? Do you speak good Spanish and would you be comfortable where almost no one speaks English, or do you want an English-speaking support community?
