I'm a British expat now with a residency id card living in Xlendi, Gozo. I got my card last August. I live off a private pension so am self sufficient. I don't pay any tax as am below the rate of personal allowance in the UK. Do I have to register for tax purposes here?

TIA

I think you do need to. The tax allowances here may not be quite so good though. As I see it from the tax website I may pay tax on basic UK pension, which I wouldn't in UK.

Yes you do and you will have to file a tax return every year.

Thanks.

Do you know where the tax office is in Gozo. I assume it's somewhere in Victoria.

Google Victoria tax office and it will show you where it is, if you travel from Xlendi by bus you pass by it.

Triq Enrico Mizzi just off St Francis Square!

What about the tax office in Malta? Anybody know where that is?

Just Google 'Tax Office Malta' and it will show you where on a map!
It's quicker than asking on here and waiting for someone else to do it
