Common misconceptions and clichés about life in Denmark

Hello everyone,

Old clichés die hard, as the saying goes... and living in Denmark can generate lots of misconceptions in the eyes of the people.

What are the most common misconceptions about the expat lifestyle in Denmark?

What are the most common clichés about life in Denmark in general?

Did you have a biased view of the country before moving there? What is you view now?

Thanks in advance,

Priscilla

My own understanding of Denmark was based on a lot of experience in the country from 60s-until the mid-90s.  It changed a lot during those years.  Now , it's changed even more.   What country hasn't?

I've been here a little over 20 years.  I'm not going anywhere.

I knew nothing about Denmark other than Lego and that it had an airport I had been through, and told that it was expensive. But that's a little bit not true as my home country I think is expensive, depends on what you like to buy.

Im Scottish so most people have expectations of what Scots are like, I've heard, Ah mell Gibson, freedom! Many times on my world travels lol

I read the book A year of living danishly before I came, it's set on the mainland though so bit different than living in Copenhagen but a good read for newcomer's.
