5+ Hours transfer at vienna train station after midnight

Hi all,
I am not sure this is the correct place for this question, if not sorry in advance.
There's a high possibility that I might have to spend someting like 5 to 6 hours in Vienna, more generally the train station because of some bad planning I did for a trip. I haven't been in Vienna for that long before, and as I already live in Austria, i'm expecting everything to be closed, will that be the case for Vienna? Might there be anything to do in these hours, probably something like 00:00 to 5:30. Should I try to plan a different destination all together?

Thank you
G.

Hi,

where will you be - at Westbahnhof, Hauptbahnhof, or ..?

And also what day (night :D:)) will it be?

Most probably Hauptbahnhof, it will be on Sunday. I'm coming by carsharing and they haven't worked out their schedule yet. Still considering my options, I might have found a better connection but I need to consider the worst case option as well.
Lesson of the day kids : if you don't find an online option ask the train station and don't wait until the last minute to do so..

Well, night life is not my specialty, but I would presume there should be a coffee shops opened 24/7 on places like train stations. On the other hand, from midnight to 5:30 to be between two trips, perhaps to figure out another way of arriving at the destination ...

Cafe and Coffee shops are not open 24/7. and as it is a Sunday that's even worse as pretty much nothing will be open. You might find a Lokal (Bar) but even they will be closed around 1am.

I am pretty sure there is nothing you can do, other than walk the streets and see Vienna at night. A lot of train station are closed night, this so that they can be cleaned.

Thank you for your replies. I just managed to find a better trip. I guess I'll have to experience Vienna another time in day light :D

Cheers
G.

Great  :top:

Cheers

there will be plenty of night clubs open, as well as some drinking holes. Casinos and other male entertainment venues as well. McDonalds too where coffee or cake/ food would be served. There is one dead opposite the Hauptbahnhof in Vienna. The odd specialist cinema may also be open. Sunday might be slightly more difficult. Seems you have changed your plans. I have once had to spend a night in Vienna waiting for a return train, a few years ago though!

The Train stations close down now, If any other days than Sunday it might well be another story. Some bras will be open till 2am. But that will be it.
