Hi Folks,

Looking some feedback on an offered salary in the University of Buraimi.

1550RO/month without housing allowance + usual health, yearly trip and end of contract gratuities.

We are two with a 2 year kid. How much is the a decent accommodation cost here? Any idea how much can be saved considering modest lifestyle.

Thanks.

Sumitran

Hi Sunshiney,

The salary quoted would suffice for a family of your size comfortably, even without accommodation.

Buraimi is but a small town, with little or no social life. The lifestyle here would be very laid back.

Since the options to spend are limited, you can save upwards of 60% of your monthly income.

Hi Sumitran,

Thanks for the information. Appreciated.

Is there any way to negotiate with the authority to get more than 1550RO as an assistant professor with 8 years experience. I was expecting to get 1700-1800 RO as an assistant professor. They said it is beyond their pay scale.

Regards.

Sumitran

Hi Sunshiney,

Salary slabs would be fixed in most organisations depending on the position and level of employment. Rarely would an organisation amend it.

If your prospective employer has already stated that the amount you had asked for is beyond their budget, then they perhaps mean it.

If you still want to give it a go, tell them you will not consider their offer they do not re-look at the package. If the employer feels that you are a candidate that they must hire, they might oblige. The flip side of it is, if they have a second option they will go with the other candidate leaving you in the lurch. It is a risk you have to take.

Hi Sumitran, Thanks again for the information. Lets see how it goes. Regards.
