Schools in general

Hi all,

I have two children under 3, one is now 33 months old and the other is 15 months old.

We are now living in Hong Kong due to my hubby's work. My eldest is now attending pre nursery classes (for 2 yo to 3yo) and will be entering Kindie this coming summer.

My hubby would have a new job posting in Kuala Lumpur in a year's time so I am now looking at the school for our two little ones.

Few questions that needed answers:

Playschools =
are there private playschools in KL?

Home school =
is it illegal to home school children in Malaysia? it is illegal in HK, thats why I am asking this question. :)

Local schools =
Which are the reputable local schools?
How are children graded and promoted to the next level?
Are they pressure cooker schools like many in Singapore or HK?
Language of instruction? English or Mandarin or Bahasa?
When is the start of the school year?

International schools =
which are the smaller international schools?
do they all provide second language class? Mandarin or Bahasa?
How long are the waiting list usually?

Since moving to Hong Kong, I have done many research about schools in Hong Kong, and I cant believe I have to go through this exercise again.  But hey, what should a stay at home mum do? :)

Thank you all so much for your contribution.

Cheers,
Agnes
