Is it possible to rent for a few months vs 1 year?

Hello everybody.
Our little family thinking about movement to Slovenia, and we would like to know about usual way of long-time rent - is it possible to rent an apartment for a few months, maybe 3-4 but not for a full year?
It's better to live for a few months first to understand about what is going around to choose next location
