Buying a car in Romania...or not...looking for advice please

Hello everyone,

I have just moved to Romania and I am considering buying a car.

I have been reading the blogs and it is obvious that buying a car in Romania costs a lot more than what I would expect to pay in the UK.

A lot of people have said buy in Bulgaria and bring across the border. I live in the North-West of Romania (near Oradea), so would it be cheaper to buy a car from Hungary and dring it over.

Or would it be cheaper buying one in the UK and bringing it over, but leaving it on UK plates. How long can it stay in the country with UK plates on it? I would not register it in Romania because of the cost.

Are there companies that do long lease rental cars for a decent price?.
