Become freelancer in Bulgaria | Accountant searching

Hi! I am a Spanish 3D Artist living in Bulgaria since a few months, I have my temporary residence card and I want to become a freelancer. My intention is to work with companies and individuals from Bulgaria and other EU countries. I need to find a tax manager who speaks English or Spanish and can help me with legal and accounting issues. I am not going to make a lot of money or start a company, just enough to live on. So I would be grateful for any recommendation of an accountant either a company or a freelancer, who is trustworthy and serious in his work and wants to work one on one with me.

Lots of thanks in advance.

PD: My residence is in Sofia.

Hi Angie i live between 2 cities Shumen and Sofia and i am available any time. We can have a chat on ***Teo

Welcome to the expat.com forum and good luck with your new life in Bulgaria!

I reckon Bulgaria's low cost of living and low taxation (10% flat tax) makes it a great place to be a freelancer, especially if all/many of your clients are abroad.

Many immigration attorneys (some links below) offer help for other bureaucratic processes and accounting, so perhaps you can start there.

You can undertake your work as self-employed, or you can incorporate a Bulgarian company. I believe many recommend the latter, but the former is probably cheaper and easier to start.

I think Bulgaria has online filing now, so you probably just need advice on how to do it, rather than have someone to do it for you.

Also accounting is much easier now, you can find many online options (Xero, etc.) which allow you to do all the necessary bookkeeping for your biz. Then your accounts are ready, which means it's cheaper and quicker for your accountant (if necessary) to finalize and submit.

Separately, I would encourage you to register in the Bulgarian health system by making your monthly social security contributions (either as self-employed or as an employee of your Bulgarian company).
