Plastic Surgeon (staff specialist), Denmark

The Department of Plastic and Breast Surgery consists of two sections - Plastic Surgery and Breast

Surgery - and is one of Denmark's leading specialist departments within plastic, reconstructive and

breast surgery.

The department serves as a highly specialised (tertiary) referral centre for patients from the Central

Denmark Region and the North Denmark Region, and is the Central Denmark Region's only plastic

surgery unit, covering a population of approximately 1.4 million residents. The department also carries

out primary and regional function treatment within the Central Denmark Region, including a satellite

function in Gødstrup covering the western part of the region.

Within microsurgical reconstruction specifically, the department also provides highly specialised

treatment for large parts of the North Denmark Region (an additional catchment of approximately 0.6

million people), bringing the total catchment population for the department's microsurgical services to

approximately 2 million.
