Am I alone in having to spend many days at home waiting for a delivery that may or may not arrive? My latest is is a parcel from France which was supposed to arrive at 'end of day' today but I have since heard that it might be Sunday. I made enquiries after the tracker showed it as 'on hold' in Buenos Aires and was advised that is was awaiting the next transport to Montevideo. The same thing happened earlier this month when I had to go MVD to collect a parcel and pay US$23 for a week's storage in their warehouse.

It isn't just international consignments. Last month I made an online purchase with a Uruguayan company. After about a week of waiting, I returned home from a quick trip to the shops, to find a missed delivery note advising they would deliver again the next day. They didn't nor the next so I went to the courier's depot to collect it. The next time I checked my email, they were kind enough to advise that the parcel had been successfully delivered.

Update: DHL were able to get the parcel from Paris to Cologne and on to an overnight flight to Buenos Aires within 18 hours. It has been in our part of the world for more than 80 hours.

At 18:20 last Monday, I received a text from DHL advising that the consignment has been passed to DAC for delivery in 48-72 hours. My guess is that DHL told DAC to hide outside my house as they have been expecting a delivery for the last 4 days so they probably need to go out. Sure enough, DAC tried to deliver 20 minutes after we went out. We went to the DAC office to retrieve the parcel and shortly after, DHL sent an email confirming that the parcel has been delivered. They did not invite feedback.
