Hi there - we are a family of 3 thinking of moving to Uruguay in the near future.

Naturally we love South Africa however being farmers' our future is perhaps a little limited. Also before we are tooo old lets venture into something new.

We are arriving in Montevideo on the 26 September and will take things from there. If anyone has any advice regarding estate agents, farming communities and business in general - all information will be greatly appreciated.

We are currently cattle, sheep and a little crop farmers. Also own a game farm which we run and breed buffalo , sable and roan. We are very laid back people, who certainly enjoy our wines, Brandy (naturally) and great food.

Our son is 14 and sort of into everything and nothing. My wife enjoys her horses and running. I enjoy most things.

Have any South Africans started farming in Uruguay? We are very interested in finding out what it is like.

We are looking at Uruguay but would like to speak to ex South Africans.
