Can I get another 90 days stay ?

Antonio is an optimist if he is thinking that the laypersons

who populate our forums will provide an answer that is

more reliable than the myriad contradictory sources

that have already confused the issue.

A few years ago, after Peru reduced the customary

tourist-stamp period from 180 days to 90 days,

I was informed of this change by a Migracion agent

when I arrived at the Lima Airport.  He said I could get

90 days more by applying for such during my first 90 days.

How to find the correct location/s to do this I couldn't

tell you, although I recall it being posted on one or more

Expat Internet forums.

The saving grace is that Peru has long been among the

most lenient countries in dealing with overstayers.

On that trip I referenced above, I stayed well past the

90 days I was technically entitled too .. and was directed

to an airport booth just steps away where I paid a dollar or two

per day for my extra time in Peru, and nobody lifted an eyebrow.

This post is not advocating law breaking, as Peru does not

consider an overstay by solid citizens to be a crime.
