English speaking pharmacists in Quito

jdwhite9

I take about 20 meds. I will need to start refilling, or get new scripts, for these meds soon after arriving in Quito. I would appreciate hearing from someone willing to provide the name and phone contact information for a good English fluent Pharmacist.

Dear JD,

Welcome to the Ecuador forums of expat.com ...

Consider investing about $50 for an office consultation with a specialist doctor in Quito who can write prescriptions for any meds that require a receta especial at a pharmacy.

The doctor can review your medications .. tell you what they are called in Ecuador where the names are often different from other countries .. and possibly advise you on a plan to eventually cut down from taking so many different meds.

You might start by calling the Hospital Metropolitano .. and asking for an English-speaking doctor.

In Ecuador and other Latin countries, more doctors than pharmacists speak English, at least by percentage.

Once you have your revised list and any recetas, you can show these at a pharmacy to get your refills.
