Is difficult to say, is about what're you looking for.

Cuenca is a middle size city, kind of cold and rainy.Downtown is beautiful, has many old buildings and churches, cultural life. health service is good.

Manta is a coast city, much warmer than Cuenca, if you like the beach this is your place. The city has grow a lot the last years, I think is more insecure than Cuenca. I don't know if prices are expensive than in Cuenca.

Great answer on Cuenca, vinny.
Manta 250K people city, commercial-industrial doesnt rain much, warm weather all year long, reasonable amount of restaurants and entertainment, crime is the same as in Cuenca.
Big difference is Cuenca is more residential, Manta more comercial.
How did you settle on those two? have you tried other areas? what is the main drive to a city to want to move there? What is a no-no and what a must-have? Regards....N.
