Dismiss from my job while I'm on work permit

Hello!

I'm writing this message because I didn't find any good and clear information on the web and my lawyer is also having some difficulty to reply me.

So, I have a brazilian work permit since MARCH 2023. However, for some personnal reason I will dismiss from my job. I want to know what will happen to my VISA. Should I leave the country as soon as I leave my job?

I have seen some different informations on the internet, so that's why I'm calling for your help!

For a bit more of context I'm from France.

Thank you!

I can't answer the question, but, did your employer sponsor you ?

Yes my company does sponsor me through my VISA.

@Jcommej

If you obtained your visa as a result of a company offering you a job, ie sponsoring you, then theoretically the visa will cease when the job does. However, I doubt anyone will come to your door and ask you to leave Brazil, so long as there was no criminality involved in leaving your job. A friend of mine continued to stay in Brazil for several months after leaving his job...

Your visa should have an expiry date, after which, if you do not find a new sponsor and apply for a new visa, you will be out of status... But until then you should be good to stay.

Just don't be like alan279 and answer the door to any female, who knows what might happen.
